Title: Gentle Giant – Original
My Gentle Giant Encounter:
I met this rhino back in 2016 (I won’t disclose the location since they are being poached at an alarming rate). We were on foot with the rangers guiding us through the bush. As we approached, we saw the small herd (aka “crash”) resting under some trees. As we started to click away with our cameras, this bull felt like we were too close and started to approach us. We backed off and he relaxed, but watched us for quite some time – still unsure. I captured this composition with my long lens at the time. Even in that moment I knew I wanted to paint this rhino on a BIG canvas!
Spiritually speaking, the rhino is associated with peace, solitude, gentleness, power, and steadiness. When you are feeling insecure, empty, or nervous – think of the rhino, invite its intimate connection to stability, stamina, and promising power.
