Location: Point Reyes National Seashore, California – 2023
Description: It was my first day in Point Reyes, which is known as the “Serengeti” of California, and I was excited to see coyotes that were not skittish (like the ones near my house in Ventura), as well as bobcats. What I wasn’t expecting was to see a furry creature kicking up dirt. I quietly walked over with our guide and saw it was a BADGER. I’ve never seen one, if you could believe it. Badgers are notorious for being tough and aggressive, when provoked, but we kept our distance and let him do his thing. He was very relaxed and would casually look over and carry on with foraging. They have such cute faces!
