My “Twilight Lioness” Encounter:
It was during my master’s research in South Africa when I was sitting with a pride of lions that just made a kill at the beginning of dusk. This female made the kill and had a VHF collar for triangulation, but she had her fill and was resting. During the chaos of the other pride members eating, she had a pose of peace and content as the scene turned to darkness. The moment I took her photo, I knew I was going to paint her someday.
