Description: During my time studying the African painted dog, we came across these two young bull giraffes “necking” – which is their form of sparring or fighting. Most people think when they see this photo that it is a sign of affection, but once they read the description I provide, the context becomes very different.
This image won the Giraffe Conservation Photo Contest 2020, Honorable Mention in The Nature Conservancy 2022 Photo Contest as well as published in their Magazine, and Top 100 in the Mammals Category that will be published in the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) Journal in 2022.
